U.S. Grain Council

The U.S. Grains Council is a non-profit organization whose mission is to: develop markets, enable trade, and improve lives.  The Arkansas Corn and Grain Sorghum Board actively supports the U.S. Grains Council through both monetary and human capital.  The Grains Council works to promote U.S. corn, sorghum and barley around the world.  As a Board we do not have the resources to promote our products overseas so we work through the Grains Council to accomplish this goal.

Every dollar the Board invest in the Grains Council is matched $3.4 to $1 through USDA export promotion programs like the Market Access Program (MAP) and the Foreign Market Development (FMD) funds.  These funds are authorized through the Farm Bill and award to different agriculture commodity groups.  Through our support of the Grains Council Arkansas Corn and Sorghum is promoted to foreign buyers both through trade missions and foreign buying groups coming to Arkansa
s.

Trade Missions

A number of Board members and Board appointed representatives have participated in U.S. Grains Council Trade Missions to:

UA Poultry Short Course

In 2011, the Board spearheaded an effort to create a poultry short course at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. The course is designed to show international buyers and nutritionists the benefits of increased feeding of corn, sorghum and DDG in poultry diets. In cooperation with the U.S. Grains Council and University of Arkansas, foreign buying teams are brought to Fayetteville where they learn the latest in poultry nutrition, production and genetics. The University of Arkansas is uniquely positioned to teach and show foreign teams the most current and efficient production practices. Since the program began in the fall of 2011 the Board has hosted teams from:
